PORTFOLIO > Analog Prints

This letterpress triptych utilizes brayer inking and layering -- offsetting letter forms from the type to the brayer, then back onto the type/ woodblock with each inking -- to achieve various levels of distortion and clarity in the text. The letter forms are changed, obscured, and ultimately turned into a new synthetic form, while maintaining qualities of the previous forms, as reference to the Marxist / Hegelian concept of Aufheben.

On display September 2011 at the Columbia College Chicago Center for Book & Paper Arts as part of letterpress exhibition "Wood Type Evolved"
